2012 Art Show and Music Program!

Last year's amazing art show!

It's time once again to get ready for the Saratoga Springs North Stake Art Show!  Last spring's show was a huge success, and we are excited to do it again.  The show this year will be April 20th (please note the change in date from previous plans), and we would love to see all kinds of art from every age group in our stake.  Primary and youth are especially encouraged to participate.  We'd love to see drawings, paintings, photography, quilting, sculpture, paper crafts, mixed media, etc. -- if it can be displayed, we'd love to see it.  Our theme this year is "Arise & Shine Forth!"  Submissions should reflect or relate to this theme in some way (but we're really flexible, so don't let that freak you out).

To submit a project for the art show, please download the submission form (see the download link on the right), fill it out, and send it to Tomi Ann Hill at tomiannie@gmail.com.  We'd like to have your submission forms by April 17th so that we can prepare in advance, but we will accept them on the day of the show.  You can bring your piece to the cultural hall in the stake center any time between 1-3:30 p.m. on April 20th, then please plan on collecting it at the end of the show, at 9 p.m. that evening.

This year we are excited to combine our art show with a special musical presentation by every ward in the stake.  Each ward will be providing a musical number -- either the ward choir or some other number, as determined by the ward music chair -- to be part of a special program about the life and Atonement of the Savior.  This is sure to be a special event that will help your family keep the spirit of Easter all month long!  To participate, join your ward choir and talk to the music chair in your ward about what your ward is contributing.

There will be just two group rehearsals for the program: Sunday, April 15th from 6-8 p.m., and Thursday, April 19th, starting at 6 p.m.  The music portion of the program will start at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 20th, so people can come enjoy the art show and see the program in one trip. :)

Submissions

If you have a submission for the Show, you can bring your artwork to the Stake Center between 1pm-4pm on the 22nd.  If that time does not work for you, you can also bring it to my house - 377 Harvest Moon Drive - any time on the 21st.  We want to make sure everything is transported and stored safely.

Also, we need the wording for the note card that will be displayed with your art.  It should be a short description of how your piece portrays how you feel the Savior's love.  It can be something as simple as "I feel my Savior's love when..."  Please email this to me at stakeartscommittee@yahoo.com or call me at (801) 592-5587.

Spring Break Art Project!

Just a reminder that we're down to 10 days before the Stake Art Show!  It's Spring Break this week, so keep the kids (even your teenagers!) busy with an art project about our Savior's love! 

We've received some great submissions, and we want more!  We are still taking submissions for all ages! 

General Conference!

Looking for something to keep your hands (or your kids' hands!) busy as you listen to conference this weekend?  What better way than putting together your project for the art show?!  Conference could be a great conduit for inspiration!

Sign-up!
We've added a sign-up sheet to the right that can be downloaded.  You can email your submission to stakeartscommittee@yahoo.com, or you may call me, Stacy Taylor, at (801) 592-5587.  We want to know ASAP so we know what to plan for!

Date Change
The date of the Art Show will be only on Friday, April 22nd, from 5-9 pm.  Another exciting aspect of the Art Show is that is correlates with the Stake Choir Program at the Stake Center that same night!  What an amazing, spiritual night to celebrate our Savior!  Come for one and stay to enjoy the other!

Additional Questions
Is there a size limit?  As far as size goes, anything that can be displayed and is themed around our Savior's love is acceptable.  If you have something particularly large, please let us know upon submission.

Is there a submission limit?  If you would like to submit more than one entry, please let us know.  We want to have a variety of art and allow everyone in the Stake the opportunity to participate.

Join us for the Art Show!

Welcome, members of the Saratoga Springs North Stake!  We are excited to invite you to participate in our first ever Stake Art Show.  This blog is your source for any info you might need on the art show.  Please feel free to post any questions you might have, and we will answer them as quickly as possible.  Soon we'll have the sign-up sheet here to download as well.

When is the art show?
   -- We have set tentative dates for April 22nd and 23rd.

Who can participate?
   -- Anyone in the stake of any age is welcome to participate!

What kind of art can be submitted?
  -- Any kind of visual art is welcomed, including (but certainly not limited to) paintings, drawings, photography, collages, sculptures, ceramics, papercrafts, needle art, quilts, etc.  Pretty much anything that can be displayed.  If you have a question about whether your piece will work, please just ask!  Also, please do consider what your piece will need to be displayed (easel, etc.) and let us know whether you can supply it or if you have special needs.

Is there a theme?
   -- Our theme for this show is "I feel my Savior's love."  During this Easter season, we want to celebrate all the ways we feel our Savior's love in all aspects of our lives.  Pieces that tie into this theme in any way are welcomed.  Each piece in the show will be accompanied by a card where the artist can explain how their piece bears testimony of feeling the Savior's love.

When is the deadline for signing up?

When do you have to submit your piece?
   -- Tentative deadline: April 18th
